Spring Trending: Florals

Hello lovelies,

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring and all the trends have been revealed.  I thought I'd compile a little list of the trends I want to try incorporating into my wardrobe, and hopefully convince some of you to try them too.

First up, FLORALS.  So this is a bit of a recurrent theme when it comes to Spring trends but that just means you shouldn't have to buy much if you jumped onto the trend last year, or the year before, or the year before that ;)

Here's just a few looks to get you started on mixing florals into your everyday wear.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

There are a few recurring outfit ideas that these five lovely ladies are wearing.  Number one, wear a solid top with your floral bottoms and keep the shoes neutral.  Try to match your solid top with a colour in the print.  And if all else fails, throw on a blazer and get to workin' it.

I for one am very excited to dust off some of my florals out of the back of my closet.  It may still be frigidly cold outside, and there may be snow falling around me, but I will be cheery and bright in some floral attire.

What do you think of the floral trend?  Do you have florals in your closet that you're just dying to pull out?

Tata for now.

An Ode to the Pencil Skirt

Hello Lovelies!

How was the weekend?   Get up to any trouble?  I just had a pretty chill home-project kind of weekend.  We painted the guest room and I am in love with the colour.  I'll show pictures once it's dry and we've got furniture back in place haha.

So today, I thought I'd express my undying love for the pencil skirt.  I believe that pencil skirts are the most versatile piece of clothing a girl can own.  They can be dressed up for work or dressed down for a day of shopping with your girlfriends.  There are just so many different pencil skirts out there - so I thought I'd show you how I would wear some of them.

1. Leather Pencil Skirt

The unexpected pairing of a chambray shirt with a leather pencil skirt looks very chic.  Add some neon earrings, a statement necklace and a pop of leopard to jazz things up.  Wearing a statement necklace underneath a button up adds an unexpected little peek and is a great way to ease into wearing them.

2. Jean Pencil Skirt

Now I myself am not the biggest fan of jean skirts, but I am positive I would wear this outfit....jean skirt or not.  A striped v-neck with a black blazer keep the jean skirt from being too casual and the brown riding boots finish the look off well.

3. Black Pencil Skirt

Everyone and their dog always says that a little black dress is a girl's best friend, but I think the same is true for black pencil skirts.  They can be worn in such a vast variety ways - but sometimes it's good to keep it neutral and simple.  Enter cream polkadot sweater and white collared shirt - Aaaaaaa.....perfection :)

4. Printed Pencil Skirt

I am in love with this pencil skirt.  Unfortunately, my wallet is not.  The print and detailing are to die for....ugh, why can't I just win the lottery haha.  Since this is such a standout piece, I've paired it with some pretty basic things - white sleeveless collared shirt, arm party and some basic black pumps.  You'll be ready to take on the town with this beauty :)  There are a few printed skirts floating around the web that would work equally as great as this one.  Case in point: 1, 23

5. Coloured Pencil Skirt

Another favourite type of pencil skirt is the coloured pencil skirt.  Any colour - red, green blue, yellow - if you dare.  Paired with a striped shirt and statement necklace, it keeps the outfit casual enough for coffee with friends, but still put together enough that you could meet the boy for a bite later on.  I really love pairing coral with green - it's such an unexpected pairing but the colours work so well together.

And that's my little pencil skirt round-up.  Did you like my outfits?  Are you as in love with pencil skirts as I am?  How about that ikat printed one?  *drool*

I would personally wear any one of these beauties and feel awesome strutting my stuff ;)

Tata for now.
