Currently Crushing: Pleated Skirts

If you know me IRL (in real life), then you know that I am not very girly.

The pleated skirt is a big leap for me in relation to my style, but I cannot help but love the sweetness of pleated skirts.  There is just something so innocent about the look, perhaps it's the "hit me baby one more time" reference stuck in my head. Pleated Skirt = Catholic Schoolgirl.

Seeing as though the pleated skirt is so girly, I would definitely would need to rough up the girliness a bit with a belted chunky knit sweater or a leather jacket - gotta love the mixture between hard and soft. I am trying to find the perfect pleated skirt that I can wear a variety of different ways for a variety of different looks.  Here's a few that I am currently crushing on - a variety of different colours and price points.

I absolutely cannot wait for Spring, and skirts, and colours, and everything good that comes :) What are some of your favourite Spring trends for 2012?

Tata for now. xoxo.

I Had a Dream...

1.) Oh dear, I know I'm pretty corny... : )
2.) I wish one of you could pinch me, because I think I may have just died and gone to heaven. : )

I have to move soon, so I have been spending my days packing up my sweet, little apartment. In addition to the trouble that moving is, I'm not terribly crazy about change and I love, love, love my little apartment, so all of this packing is making me a little bit sad. After supper, I was pretty tired, so I thought I would just read some of my magazines, and while flipping through February's Instyle, I found the most wonderful thing since sliced bread: Norma Kamali's Kamali Kulture Line featuring multiple varieties of little black dresses!

In case you didn't know, little black dresses are my Achilles' heel (well, maybe one of my Achilles' heels, hehe), and there are many wonderful things about these dresses. Most notably, the variety of styles in one place. As a frequent little black dress purchaser, it is nice to have so many styles to choose from so you can add new styles to your collection and to have a go-to place to get them instead of having to look all over for a one-sleeved dress. Secondly, I like the styles offered. Another trouble with little black dresses I sometimes find is that they are either too trendy (I'm not crazy about really short or really sparkly ones) or too conservative (wrap dresses are great, but sometimes you need one that is a little fancier). The ones offered in the Kamali Kulture Line are the best of both worlds. Some of my favourites include the Sleeveless Shirred Waist Dress, Long Sleeve Side Draped Dress, and best of all, the All in One Dress. Thirdly, they are specifically designed to be universally flattering. Not to mention affordable (all of the dresses are under $100 US). Last, but not least, the dresses are also available in red, my next favourite dress colour... What a coincidence! ; )

I will be going to sleep tonight wishing that if someone was wonderful enough to create all those little black dresses, that someone (hopefully Norma Kamali) will soon come up with a collection of little white, little chocolate brown, and little navy dresses, too. Then I think my life may just be complete. ; )

Goodnight Everyone!
Sweet Dreams,
xoxo

I am sorry I've been so MIA lately. I have just been crazy at work lately and haven't had to time to get on the ol' blog. I hope everyone has an awesome Valentine's Day!

Slightly Overcast

Hi Everyone!

I have been a big fan of nail polish since I was a little girl, but I have never been very adventurous with it... Most times I just like the light pink and beige colours and then the occasional red when getting dressed up. I remember one time shopping at a Coach store and complimenting the saleslady at the front about her pretty red nail polish. She told me that at Coach, you were only allowed to wear neutral colours, red, or a French manicure (I also really like French manicures too! There is some debate as to whether they are classy or dated, but I like them. Especially on your toes because they go with everything! Annnnd, I think that if Coach thinks they're tasteful, then tasteful they are! : ) I was so happy after that, because Coach and I were on the same page, nail polish-wise, hehe. They do say great minds think alike... : )

When the darker nail polish colours came into style a few years back, I didn't know what to think. I had began to feel a little nail polish void inside that my light pink, beige, red, and French nail colours were just not filling! : ) I knew how popular these darker colours, such as OPI's "Lincoln Park After Dark" were, but I was still unsure. I worked at a Hair Salon and Spa all through high school and college and I would spend many late nights after work, playing with all of the new dark nail polishes. : ) Some were too dark. Others were too purple. One was just right. Thus, OPI's "We'll Always Have Paris" became the newest (and only slightly adventurous) addition to my nail polish collection. : ) Unfortunately, this colour has been discontinued, but I was thinking of replacing it with Essie's "Little Brown Dress", what do you think? : )

Not long after, everything was coming up "greige" (a blend of grey, taupe, and beige). This colour trend I liked from the beginning. A colour that stood out a little, while not standing out too much and which was current yet timeless. I welcomed Essie's "Mink Muffs" to our family. : )

My latest nail poilsh longing is for grey-silver blue, but flat (that is the best I know how to describe it) . Specifically, Daphne Guiness for MAC's Hyperion and Illamasqua's DWS. I think they are kind of like a Spring-version of greige. : ) But, I am a little apprehensive because I have not had the courage to even wear the greige nail polish yet, so I think that I may just be getting a little ahead of myself and going out on too much of a limb, hehe. : ) But, I do think they are very pretty, and I hope you enjoy them! : )

P.s. Happy Superbowl! Who are you rooting for? I am a big Eli Manning fan, so the Giants will be getting a fingers-crossed from me. : ) : )
